The Western Wind at its December 2023 Holiday Concert
2024 - 2025 Season
2023-2024 Season
Thank you for a great 2023-2024 season. Recordings below. Details for the next season coming soon!
The 2023-2024 concert season has showcased The Western Wind's versatility and stylistic range. In the fall, they found themselves in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden where they premiered Kamala Sankaram's innovative work Cultivar among the very trees that inspired Sankaram's composition. In November, the singers presented a wide range of music by William Byrd, part of a global celebration of Queen Elizabeth I's favorite composer. The group's annual holiday concert followed in December, which led to a an unusual love-themed concert Valentine's weekend. The series concluded with an Earth Day concert, One Round Home, featuring Cultivar by Kamala Sankaram, "Apocalypse Lullaby" arranged by Gayla Morgan, and exciting music by Estévez, Shabalala, Hindemith, Hai-Ting Chinn, Elliot Z. Levine, Liz Hanna, and others. We hope you were able to attend the performance in person at St. John's in the Village, NYC, or to watch it online on the Musae platform. Next season's concerts will be announced late summer of 2024.
