Sing Medieval and Renaissance, Early American, Romantic,
Folk, Jazz and contemporary songs in an Autumn
revel in one of New England's most picturesque
towns.

What makes the Western Wind workshop unique
is the focus on small ensembles,
where everyone makes an essential contribution as an
individual singer. Most of
the day is spent in small groups, working on a variety
of a cappella repertoire.
Each group sings an intriguing selection of music which
could include Medieval,
Renaissance, Baroque, Early American; 19th- and
20th-century part-songs; rounds,
hymns, and folk-songs; jazz, pop, doo-wop, and
improvisations.
Tuition:
- $225
per person (if enrolled before 10/6/11;
after 10/6/11
tuition is $250)
Bed and Breakfast: $55 per
night per person, double occupancy; $65 per night,
single;
$95 per night, couple

Discounts
available on tuition for groups of six or more. A 5%
tuition discount is applied for Friends of the Western
Wind. Partial scholarships available based on financial
need.
(Local hosts
can barter for part of their tuition by providing bed
and breakfast accommodations for workshop participants.

By Car:From the New York City
Area to
North
Universalist Chapel Society,
7 Church Street, Woodstock, Vermont
Take I 87 (NYS Thruway) to exit 20 (on Northway) Rte
9 North for ½-1 mile. Take 149 East to Fort Anne. Then Route 4 East
to Woodstock. After crossing river, first Church on left is
Unitarian Society. If space is available, use parking lot behind
Church, otherwise pull up in front and you will be directed to
parking lots in the recreation center or elementary school.
Estimated driving time: 5 Hours
OR
Saw Mill Parkway to Cross Country Parkway to
Hutchinson River to Merritt Parkway to I91 (about 10 miles South of
Hartford). Go through Connecticut and Massachusetts to Exit 9 in
Vermont. Take Route 12 (towards Woodstock), through the town of
Hartland into the center of Woodstock (Route 12 joins route 4). Stay
on Route 4 past the village green. The third building on the right
after the town hall is the Church.
Estimated driving time: 5 Hours
For those coming from Boston and New Hampshire:
(from I-89) Take Exit 1 to the center of Woodstock Route 4) and
proceed as above.
From Maine: Go to Exit 12 (White River Junction) on
I-91 (in Vermont). Take North 89 to Exit 1. Then follow the Boston
directions. |

| Registration Policy |
| Once you make your deposit you'll
receive an email letter with details about the workshop and a
questionnaire. Final payment is made upon arrival. When you check
out, you will pay for the music you've used in your group and any
additional music, photo-copies, CDs, tee-shirts, tuning forks you
may have purchased. |

Music Policy
The cost of the large group piece which we all sing is included in the tuition. Published editions
will be used whenever possible and participants will need to purchase the music
required for their small ensembles. In addition, a library of outstanding ensemble
music will be available for sale. |

Bring Your Group!
Pre-existing groups are welcome at Western Wind Workshops. If enough members of a
group enroll, they can apply for a tuition discount and work together as a group.
